In May 2013, Singapore Airlines announced that it would spend more than $17 billion to order Airbus and Boeing aircraft, namely 30 examples of the A350-900 and 30 787-10Xs. However, the latter was still not officially launched by Boeing, with the airline's announcement remarking that the order was conditional on the manufacturer launching the program and that it would use the 787-10Xs on medium-range routes.
