Messerschmitt: The Story Of The German Aircraft Manufacturer’s Post-War Years

Few, if any, German manufacturers of World War II are as famous as Messerschmitt AG – its aircraft became household names (like the Bf 109 – one of the most produced military aircraft of all time). Messerschmitt AG survived the war's end and Germany's extensive destruction. After the war, Messerschmitt AG sought to branch into other industries as it was banned from manufacturing aircraft for ten years. In a way, Messerschmitt AG never went away. Instead, it remained a cornerstone of German aviation and merged and became part of the massive European aviation giant, Airbus.
