Support Rail Safety with a New Kentucky Operation Lifesaver License Plate

Kentucky drivers now have a unique way to show their commitment to railroad safety and support a worthy cause. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has partnered with Operation Lifesaver Kentucky to offer a new specialty license plate.

Operation Lifesaver is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing injuries and fatalities at railroad crossings and along train tracks. Through public education campaigns and community outreach programs, Operation Lifesaver works tirelessly to raise awareness about the dangers associated with railroads and promote safe practices.

This new specialty plate design features a sleek locomotive set against the backdrop of a classic Central Kentucky landscape. The recognizable red and silver color scheme pays tribute to one of Kentucky’s own railroads, R. J. Corman Railroad Company, while prominently displaying the Operation Lifesaver logo and the crucial safety message.

“Kentucky Operation Lifesaver created the first railroad safety-specific license plate in the U.S. While this will help create funds to help carry our safety message and provide funding for scholarships, it will forever carry our safety slogan: ‘See Tracks? Think Train,’” said Kentucky Operation Lifesaver Executive Director B. Wayne Gentry.

R. J. Corman Railroad Group’s Graphic Arts team collaborated with the non-profit to design this custom license plate. “Safety is R. J. Corman’s number one priority, and we are proud to partner with Operation Lifesaver in different ways. We are glad to contribute to their mission to prevent collisions, injuries, and fatalities on and around railroad tracks and highway-rail grade crossings,” said R. J. Corman Railroad Group’s Director of Corporate Relations, Benny Gettinger.

Kentucky Operation Lifesaver is one of R. J. Corman’s biggest cheerleaders and is always trying to promote good public relations. We look forward to continuing to work together to promote the safety of their employees and the citizens of Kentucky,” said Gentry.

By choosing this specialty plate, Kentucky drivers can actively contribute to a life-saving cause. A portion of the proceeds from each plate sold goes directly to Operation Lifesaver Kentucky, allowing them to continue their vital public education efforts and keep communities safe.
