THE Chinese city of Changchun celebrated the opening of the 29.6km metro Line 6 on March 28, the first new line to open under the third phase of the Changchun Rail Transit Construction Plan.
Line 6 runs east-west in the south of Changchun, from Changchun Movie Wonderland and the terminus of metro Line 3, northeast via interchanges with Fuzhi Avenue on metro Line 4, Huaqing Road on Line 1, and Changchun West Railway Station and Shuanfeng on Line 2. The line has 22 underground stations and will provide improved connectivity between the Western New City, the Southern New City, and the Jingyue High-Tech Zone.
Construction of Line 6 commenced on August 28 2019 and the line has opened six months ahead of the original planned opening date.
The line takes the total length of the Changchun network to 140.8km.
