In December 2023, Airlineratings.com reported that the airlines with the oldest commercial aircraft still flying are Air Inuit in Canada, Mahan Air in Iran, and Iran Air in Iran. Thanks to the impact of sanctions on Iranian aviation, Iran is unable to purchase new aircraft and will likely be compelled to keep these aircraft flying for years to come. Production ended when Fokker went bankrupt in 1997. Fokkers continue to fly around the world, but they are on a one-way ticket out as they age and are retired with no new Fokker replacements.
