The size and lack of road infrastructure in much of Alaska make flying even more important. The largest airline operating in Alaska is Alaskan Airlines, which connects all the main airports of Alaska to the rest of the United States – with Anchorage International Airport serving as the primary hub. Sometimes included with the Anchorage International Airport is the adjacent Lake Hood Seaplane Base – the busiest seaplane base in the world. Many small bush planes and seaplanes operate out of the main airports, flying to remote communities.
