While putting ejector seats in fighter jets is standard practice, they are rarely seen on other aircraft types. This is a problem for pilots, as some aircraft (such as helicopter pilots) cannot bail out as the aircraft goes down. Sometimes, ejector seats were fitted into prototypes but were dropped from later production models (as in the case ofthe Tu-144 – the Soviet's flawed Concorde challenger). While no American-madehelicopteris equipped with ejector seats, a high-profile Russian helicopter has a novel solution to placing ejector seats in rotary aircraft.
