POLAND’s national operator PKP Intercity has awarded a Zlotys 2.3bn ($US 575.7m) contract to Newag for the purchase of 63 multi-system electric locomotives, with an option to procure another 32 units and maintenance for five years.
The Bo-Bo locomotives will be able to operate on lines electrified at 3kV dc, 15kV 16.7Hz and 25kV ac. They will have a maximum speed of 200km/h.

This deal follows the signing of a Zlotys 1bn contract with Newag on December 20 2023 for 46 single-system 3kV dc electric locomotives.
The first single-system locomotive will be delivered later this year and delivery of the entire fleet will be completed by the end of 2025.
