Safran S.A. is among the largest aviation companies in the world and has its fingers in many pies of the aviation market. The French-based company makes everything from aircraft seats to landing gear to engines and space propulsion systems. It is a French military defense contractor with significant joint ventures with GE, Airbus, and other aviation companies. Safran builds much of the interior of commercial aircraft and is one of the leading innovators in the aviation industry. Safran has also teamed up with GE to produce the next-generation LEAP turbofan that will power the Airbus A320neo, Boeing 737 MAX, and COMAC C919.
