Handley Page was an aircraft manufacturer in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1909 and produced a variety of aircraft, ranging from heavy bombers to airliners, throughout its existence. In the 1960s, British aviation was dominated by Hawker Siddeley and British Aircraft Corporation. The company resisted pressure from the government to merge into larger entities with other smaller aviation companies. This led to difficulty for the company in competing for government orders and building larger commercial aircraft. Eventually, it ceased operation in 1970 and proceeded into voluntary liquidation.
