The year has started, and with it comes the first post about routes and new aircraft in the US – Canada market. To see the latest news we published in December, you can click on the following links:

During the next months, new domestic and international routes will be introduced for the upcoming season. Also, some airlines are making changes in their schedules, cancelling routes and reducing its operations.
The incorporation of new aircraft continues with companies from these markets. At the end of December, UPS added two Boeing 767-300(F) jets fresh from the factory, and a few days earlier, Porter took delivery of a new Embraer E-2, which departed São Jose dos Campos bound for Canada.
Air Canada
The company will modify its operation on the Montreal – Copenhagen route, which will begin in May as it is seasonal.
Air Canada will start services on May 2nd, and not on May 30th as previously scheduled. In addition, since June, due to the high season, it will increase from three to five flights a week.

In June, Air Canada will have another change with respect to the operating days:

Air France
For the peak of the summer season, the airline will increase its operations between Paris and Montreal starting July 2nd. Air France will boost from 18 to 21 weekly services.

Flight AF 348/349, which will become daily in July, currently operates on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Air Transat
The company began its services between Montreal and Puerto Vallarta with Airbus A330-300s last December 24th. At the time of publication, flights on these aircraft will continue until January 8th, due to the season.
Air Transat has five operations per week, three of which will be with the A330s.

Alaska Airlines
The carrier added its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 on December 27th. At 12:10 local time, the MAX, registration N801AK, departed Seattle Boeing Field for Oakland (OAK), where it remains at the time of publication.
This Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 is the first of an initial order for 20 aircraft.

American Airlines
Starting in June, American will launch three new routes from Charlotte, all of which will be domestic. The flights, which are already on sale, will have the following schedule:

Cargojet and Canadian North
In late December, both carriers announced the renewal of a 20-year partnership with the objective, among others, of increasing the operational capacity from the Canadian Arctic.
This expansion agreement will expand cargo service to the Arctic, which continues to increase the demand from different communities in northern Canada.

Delta Air Lines
The airline confirmed that it will change the aircraft used on the New York JFK – Buenos Aires route as of March 30th. Delta currently operates with its 238-seat Boeing 767-400(ER).
For the first time, the airline will fly to Argentina on Airbus A330-900neo jets, which are configured for 281 passengers.
Initially, as a seasonal route, Delta was scheduled to end flights between New York and Buenos Aires on March 30th, but with this change, the last service will be on April 14th. Regarding the flight frequency, it will remain the same.

The company will inaugurate flights to the new Tulum airport, which entered service on December 1st, next June. Operations will be from/to New York, once a day on Airbus A320-200s.

The new Tulum airport currently has only domestic connections. At the end of March, international routes will begin, all of them from the United States.
Lynx Air
The Canadian ultra low cost carrier will introduce new routes from Calgary, Halifax, Ottawa and Toronto between March and May.
Lynx Air will operate with its Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft configured for 189 passengers in single class.

New Pacific Airlines
At the end of December, the company informed through its website the discontinuation of its services between Ontario and Las Vegas. New Pacific operated twice weekly on Boeing 757-200 planes configured for 175 passengers.

Ontario – Las Vegas had been its first scheduled route, when the carrier still was named “Northern Pacific Airways”.
Norse
Starting May 30th, Norse Atlantic Airways will inaugurate a new route between Europe and the United States. Services will be performed with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, five times a week.
Norse, which currently operates to New York JFK from London and Paris, will begin flights from Athens. Delta Air Lines and Emirates will be its competitors on this route:

Porter
C-GZQV, the registration of Porter Airlines’ newest member.
The Canadian low cost carrier has incorporated the Embraer E195-E2, fresh from the Embraer factory in São José dos Campos, Brazil. On December 22nd, the aircraft departed for Vieux Fort, arriving in Toronto on the 23rd.
Two days later it entered service, covering PD 119 from Toronto to Montreal.
Porter now has 26 jets in its fleet, all of them Embraer E195-E2s.
Southwest
The airline will launch five new routes from Hollywood Burbank Airport in June. These five connections will begin on June 4th, and will have daily service with Boeing 737-700s.

United is the only airline operating to Christchurch from the United States.
United Parcel Service
During late December, UPS added two new Boeing 767-300(F) fresh from Boeing’s Everett factory. The aircraft, registered N382UP and N383UP, departed bound for San Antonio.
Days later, the Boeing 767s flew to Louisville (SDF), prior to the start of operations.
United Parcel Services has nearly 300 jets in its fleet, of which 88 are Boeing 767-300(F). In addition, it has 6 767s on order, and their registration numbers will run from N384UP to N389UP.
WestJet
In April, WestJet will inaugurate services to Minneapolis/St. Paul from Regina. According to its website, the Canadian carrier will offer a daily flight with Dash 8-Q400s configured for 72 passengers.
