A United States federal judge has ruled that the JetBlue – Spirit Airlines merger is denied, handing a major victory to the Department of Justice, which had filed a lawsuit against the merger. The acquisition, announced in July 2022 after Frontier Airlines had stated its intention to acquire Spirit, faced heavy scrutiny from the Department of Justice, which claimed airfare would rise.
