The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) revealed new air travel numbers for the third quarter of 2023. On Tuesday, January 16, the DOT revealed that the average domestic airfare in the country decreased by nearly 7% compared to the second quarter of 2023. This airfare price does not include fees for optional services, such as baggage fees, seat upgrades, or additional fees to select an assigned seating option. The passenger demand also decreased slightly compared to the second quarter of 2023.
