Network Rail is set to carry out essential track renewal work around Slough station for the next three weekends.
It has advised passengers that there will be an amended timetable in place between 27 – 28 April and 11 – 12 May. Over the early May bank holiday weekend (4 – 5 May), there will be a small reduction in the number of services running, with journeys taking longer to complete.
As well as removing and replacing the old rails, the teams on site will install new ballast, with over 4,000 tonnes expected to be laid and packed. Almost 800 metres of rail will be replaced.
Mark Parker, Network Rail’s Project Manager, said: “I’d like to thank passengers for their patience while we carry out this essential track renewal through Slough station over the next three weekends.
“While the majority of services will still run, there will be an amended timetable in place with trains leaving some stations at different times to usual, so please do check before travelling.
“The new track will mean that passengers can continue to experience a safe and reliable railway into the future.”
