New-build GWR 4-6-0 No. 6800 Betton Grange.
The private steaming of new-build GWR 4-6-0 No. 6800 Betton Grange, due to have taken place at Tyseley Locomotive Works on Saturday, January 13, has been postponed.
A statement from the board of 6880 Betton Grange Society Ltd to its members said: “Following a detailed review of the works required to complete No. 6880 Betton Grange for the proposed members’ launch, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone this event.
“A full study this week of all tasks requiring completion before next Saturday showed that there wasn’t enough time to guarantee completion and allow time for initial testing. We appreciate this will come as a great disappointment to you all and cause inconvenience and upset with the personal arrangements made to attend the event.
“We will announce the revised date once the locomotive has been successfully tested at Tyseley Locomotive Works. We appreciate your support and patience and sincerely apologise for the delay in finishing and inconvenience caused.”
