Fundraiser for train crash truckie’s family

A GoFundMe page has been established to help the family of a young truckie killed when his vehicle was hit by a train at North Shore.

30-year-old Johnny Stubbs, of Frankston, died when his low loader was struck by a V/Line passenger train after becoming stuck on a level crossing on Monday.

It’s now been revealed Mr Stubbs’ partner Georgie gave birth to the couple’s third child just weeks before his tragic death.

The fundraising page was set up by Mr Stubbs’ friend Darryl Edwards, who described him as being “as Aussie as an Aussie can get”.

“(He) always had a big grin and a chat and time to talk and listen giving everyone the time of day,” Mr Edwards wrote.

“Family and Trucking was his thing .. he was born to drive trucks and had a massive love for doing what he done, no matter how hard the task.

“But Johnnys family was his true love that he idolised and adored.”

Mr Edwards said Mr Stubbs would have been “just itching to get home and be with his family and brand new baby”, but sadly did not make it.

“Johnny leaves behind three gorgeous children, his little man just weeks old .. and his beautiful partner who now has to piece together a shattered life and dreams that they both once had.

“Tragic is an understatement, life simply can be so cruel and unfair.”

The collision is being investigated by V/Line, Victoria Police and WorkSafe.

Donatons can be made via the GoFundMe page.
