The Boeing 757 continues to play a role in long-haul markets, defined here as covering 2,600 nautical miles (4,815 km) or more. Of course, airlines are choosing the much more fuel-efficient Airbus A321LR and 737 MAX, although they have far higher lease rates than the aging but characterful 757. Inevitably, 757 services have fallen considerably, from 45% of the total in summer 2019 to just 17% now. It is an inevitable technological evolution, as with all equipment.
