ŠKODA Group has acquired 100% of the shares of Cegelec from Vinci Energies. The acquisition will expand the Czech company’s portfolio of electrical components for LRVs, metro and suburban trains.
Cegelec will continue its business activities within Škoda Group but under the new brand name of Electric Components. As well as new rolling stock, the company supplies parts for to refurbishment projects, in particular for light rail vehicles originally manufactured by ČKD Praha.
Cegelec has been part of the Vinci Energies group since 2010, and the company traces its history to 1956.
“Škoda Group is undergoing long-term development, which includes strengthening our R&D, production, and service capacities,” says Mr Karel Majer, chairman of the board of directors and sales director at Škoda Electric, part of Škoda Group. “We are looking forward to working with new colleagues and to working on interesting projects – both existing and new ones – that will soon await us.”
