A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesman said firefighters arrived on scene to find a vehicle on a train line but found no one inside.

Citybound Sunbury trains were stopped while firefighters lifted the vehicle off the track with commuters still facing significant delays.

Commuters are urged to allow extra travel time and watch out for announcements and updates as trains may terminate or originate at stations.

It comes 12 hours after the buses replaced Sunbury trains between Sunshine and Sunbury due to vandalism.
