Europe route updates – January 2024

We finished with the report from the American market and now we move on to the European continent. To review the news about the United States, Canada and Latin America, you can check the following links:

For the current winter season, as well as for the upcoming summer, European airlines are starting to update their operations, with the addition of new seasonal and scheduled routes.

On the other hand, regarding the addition of new aircraft, Transavia acquired its first Airbus A320neo. Furthermore, Ryanair incorporated a new Boeing 737 MAX 8 to its fleet, bringing the total to 85.

AeroItalia

Effective March 25th, 2024, AeroItalia will inaugurate services between Bergamo and London Southend. The company will offer three weekly flights on 189-seat Boeing 737-800s.

Milan Bergamo airport currently has operations to London Gatwick and London Stansted, with Vueling and Ryanair respectively.

Azerbaijan Airlines

Starting March 31st, AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines will inaugurate flights between Baku and London Gatwick. The services, which are already on sale, will be operated three times a week with Airbus A320-200 aircraft.

The carrier currently serves five weekly between Baku and London Heathrow, with a mix of Airbus A319s, Boeing 767-300(ER)s and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.

British Airways

The airline is scheduled to inaugurate operations between London Heathrow and Izmir from May 18th. As these will be seasonal, flights will run until mid-September.

British will offer a weekly frequency using Airbus A320-200 jets.

Delta Air Lines

The company will change the aircraft used on its New York – Reykjavik route, which will begin on March 31st. Delta had planned to operate with Boeing 757s, but will use the Boeing 767-300(ER), offering 33 more seats per flight.

Eurowings

At 18:29 local time on Saturday (13), Eurowings’ inaugural flight from Berlin arrived at Rovaniemi Airport. The German airline will operate once a week on Airbus A320-200 aircraft seating 180 passengers in single class.

In addition to Berlin, Eurowings has services to Rovaniemi from Dusseldorf, four times a week with a mix of Airbus A319 and Airbus A320.

Eurowings is the only company with operations between Germany and Rovaniemi.

Fly One Armenia

The Armenian carrier plans to begin flights to Nice effective May 2nd. In line with its website, Fly One will operate two weekly services with the Airbus A320-200 under the following schedule.

ITA Airways

The Italian airline announced it will start flights between Rome and Toronto as of May 10th. According to its website, ITA will operate six times a week until July 1st, when it will increase to daily for the high season.

ITA Airways will perform these flights with Airbus A330-200 and Airbus A330-900neo airplanes.

Jet2

On January 11th, Jet2 launched services between Manchester and Lanzarote with Airbus A330-200 jets. The company already operates this route with Airbus A321neos, Boeing 737-800s and Boeing 757-200s.

Flights with Airbus A330 aircraft will be twice a week, with the following schedule:

The airline confirmed the scheduling of flights between Cologne and Palma de Mallorca, Spain, during March. Operations will be carried out with Airbus A320-200 aircraft.

Lufthansa

Ryanair

On January 10th, Ryanair added a new Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, which departed Seattle Boeing Field on Tuesday (9) at 21:16 local time, and arrived in Dublin after a 9 hour and 21 minute flight.

The plane, registered as EI-IJE and configured with 197 seats in single class, entered service two days later with flight FR 5910 from Dublin to Lanzarote.

Scandinavian Airline System

Southwind Airlines

Starting April 22nd, Southwind plans to begin flights between Antalya and Helsinki. The Turkish carrier schedules a weekly frequency until mid-September, with the following tentative schedule:

The aircraft used for these flights has not been confirmed.

Transavia France

Last January 10th, Transavia France, member of the Air France-KLM group, took delivery of its first Airbus A320neo, fresh from the Airbus factory in Toulouse.

The aircraft, registered F-GNEO, departed for Paris Orly, starting regular operations with flight TO 7602 to Porto five days later.

The A320neo is configured with 186 seats in single class.

TUI

During January, TUI Netherlands will begin flights on certain routes to/from Spain with Boeing 767-300(ER) jets, which are configured for 295 passengers in two classes.

The carrier will launch services between Istanbul and Malaga with Airbus A330-200s from April 4th. Turkish currently operates to the Spanish city on 198-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft.
