INTERNATIONAL Railway Journal (IRJ) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Simmons as the publication’s new deputy editor.
Simmons joins IRJ following a long journalism career, primarily for business-to-business publications covering commercial real estate and urban regeneration, including transport.
He also edited British railway enthusiast publication Rail Express between 2021 and 2022.
“Mark brings a wealth of journalism experience and an excellent understanding of global business operations to IRJ,” says editor-in-chief, Kevin Smith. “He speaks fluent German and is already proving a great asset to the team. I am sure our readers will enjoy reading his contributions to both our web and print coverage in the months and years ahead.”
Simmons succeeds David Burroughs who left IRJ in November to pursue a career in corporate communications. “It was fantastic to see David grow as a journalist during his five-and-a-half years with IRJ,” Smith says. “We wish him all the best for the future.”
