The largest Middle Eastern airline, Emirates, is known to connect passengers through its Dubai International Airport (DXB) hub. However, a handful of flights, known as fifth-freedom flights, fly passengers between two cities without connecting through DXB. Fifth-freedom routes are flights between two countries other than the airline’s home nation, as long as the originating or eventual terminating airport is at home.
