Speakers announced for RIA Wales & Western’s first annual Summit

The lineup for the Railway Industry Association’s (RIA) Wales & Western’s first annual Summit has been announced, with a host of high-profile, rail industry leaders.

The event will take place on Tuesday, July 16, from 10am and 4pm, at Hugh James’ offices, Two Central Square Cardiff. Tickets are on sale now available to RIA members for free and £250+ VAT for non-members.

The speakers are:

· Ken Skates MS, Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport, Welsh Government – Commissioner

· David McCallum, Strategic Development Programme Manager and Rail Lead at Transport for Wales

· Ruth Busby OBE, People and Transformation Director (Regional), GWR and Network Rail Wales and Western

· Councillor Andrea Davis, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport at Devon County Council, and Chair, Peninsula Transport

· David Jarman, Head of Delivery (Rail), West of England Combined Authority

· James Cooke, Deputy Director, Western Gateway

· Stephen Jones, Secretary to the Board, North Wales & Mersey Dee Rail Task, GrowthTrack 360

· Dr Ges Rosenburg, Research Fellow, Bristol University

Daniel Smith, Chair of RIA Wales & Western and Head of Engineering and Design at D2, said: “We are delighted to announce our speaker lineup at what will be a great event hearing from industry, political and academic leaders on what is currently happening in the nation/region, as well as the vision and plan for the next few years.”

RIA Wales & Western is a voice for rail suppliers across Wales and the West of England. In Wales, rail supports 22,800 jobs and generates £1 billion in economic growth; and in the South West supports 51,700 jobs and £2.6 billion in economic growth.

The event will also see the launch of the RIA Wales and Western Priority Paper, which captures the work and activity of the member-led leadership team over the last 12 months.
