American Airlines received tentative approval from the US Department of Transporation (DOT) to introduce nonstop service between New York City and Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo, Japan, on Friday. It comes after the department considered arguments from United Airlines that the New York market is “overserved” with service to Haneda in a fight for slots.
