Charlotte Douglas International Airport is one of the busiest in the United States and ranked sixth busiest in 2020 based on passenger volume. Originally opening in the 1930s as a municipal airfield for the greater Charlotte area, the facility has grown rapidly into a major hub for American Airlines.
