How Do Propellers Work To Lift Aircraft Off The Ground?

A propeller is an aerofoil directly connected to the engine's crankshaft. It turns the rotary motion of the crankshaft into thrust. According to the Oxford ATPL Principles of Flight manual, the thrust accelerates air rearwards, creating a low pressure in front of the propeller and a pulling motion on the aerofoil. The force is a result of Bernoulli’s laws of pressure.
