Train operator Northern is set to launch a new timetable on 2 June.
It has confirmed that it will continue to operate almost 2,500 services each day across the North of England, with most unaffected by the change.
Chief Operating Officer Matt Rice added that a small number of services would be retimed. Passengers can use the Check My Service tool on the Northern website to find out whether services at their local stations have been impacted.
People living in two Leicester towns have expressed concerns about work to electrify the Midland Mainline, which they fear could result in the closure of a key route between them.
BBC News reported that work to upgrade the line between Leicester and London is ongoing. However, Wigston locals are concerned that it will lead to the closure of the B583 Blaby Road, which connects the town to South Wigston.
Network Rail has confirmed that, while work will be needed to allow for the installation of overhead lines, it must complete an investigation to establish the scope of any changes next summer.
A Network Rail spokesperson added that the infrastructure manager would “provide notice to residents and road users of this work in advance.”
First Minister John Swinney will officially launch the new Leven Rail link today (Wednesday 29 May), Fife Today reports.
Following a £116 million investment to reconnect Levenmouth to the rail network, dignitaries will travel to Edinburgh Waverly to new stations in Leven, before moving on to Cameron Bridge.
Fife Today added that the link could be a “catalyst for investment”, bringing new business to the area and giving locals more travel options.
And finally, some London Underground stations may be forced to set up ‘queuing systems’ on Saturday 1 June, according to Southwark News.
Transport for London has announced that stations on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines will be particularly busy as football fans travel to Wembley Stadium for the UEFA Champions League Final: Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund.
It plans to introduce temporary safety measures, including queuing, changes to the way passengers can enter and exit stations, and trains not stopping at every station.
