Azerbaijan Railways might be the next to build a rail terminal in China

Azerbaijani Railways (ADY) is considering the option of purchasing or building a railway terminal in China. The company follows a recent trend initiated by KTZ, and possibly aims at maximizing the capacity of the Middle Corridor.
ADY’s Chairman Rovshan Rustamov made the company’s intentions known to appoint a special representative for China, as Azerbaijani outlet Aze.media mentioned. The first step would be to open an ADY office in China, but things still seem to be in their infancy.

Azerbaijan is not the first country exploring the possibility of building a terminal on Chinese territory. Kazakhstan did the same in Xi’an, in the heart of China. This terminal seems to be already showing some results, as traffic alongside the Middle Corridor has grown by 70 per cent since its opening. It remains to be seen what Azerbaijan’s intentions are and what fruits this possible cooperation will bear.
