The two reasons why the Airport Rail Link mediator report hasn’t been published publicly

Federal Transport & Infrastructure Minister Catherine King joined Heidi Murphy on 3AW Drive after the mediator’s report on the Airport Rail Link was handed to the Albanese government yesterday.

Mediator Neil Scales said the project was “viable and necessary” while Ms King said the report has “provided a pathway for us to progress parts of this project now”.

But Heidi Murphy has questioned why the report hasn’t been released into the public.

  1. Cathering King is now saying they will help with the development of Sunshine Railway Station. This will not cost ions of dollars. Why was the previous development not designed to incorporate 2 additional platforms for the airport rail line and the SG platform which HAS TO BE DELIVERED as more SG trains are rolled out on the North East.

Underground station is the best and the fact the government did not business case this without working with the Airport. That is the problem.

Why is the Tullamarine Freeway at capacity? Congestion is not that bad at the moment. Use the cost benefit of not expanding the tullarmarine freeway and placing this money into the rail link should happen.
