Both airlines have appealed the ruling by the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts to block the merger between the two airlines. On January 16, the court ruled that JetBlue's acquisition of Spirit Airlines violated antitrust policies. The airlines disagreed with this ruling, and each of them filed appeals within days.
