The Cessna Citation X was, at one point, the fastest business jet that reached speeds of Mach 0.935. The business jet was first announced in 1990 and flew for the first time on December 21, 1993. After a lengthy certification process, it was awarded its type certificate in 1996, with deliveries beginning later that year. Cessna had difficulty integrating the avionics, increasing the maximum take-off weight, and the engines not meeting updated bird strike criteria.
