First ever Vlocity set to cross the Avon River Bridge at Stratford

Just over 10 years ago on the 1st of July 2014, the first ever Vlocity set to cross the Avon River bridge at Stratford.

This was a series of test runs over the bridge for several hours to check clearances as there had been concerns that the tight clearance on the bridge would prevent their use on Bairnsdale services.

Although they were able to fit after all, the bridge has since been replaced.

Here’s a small selection of the excessive number of photos that I actually took that day.

These are great photos from Darren and I really thought sharing them wider would be a good thing. Ten years later V/Line is planning on running these short journey rolling stock services to a destination 3 hours away from Melbourne with no onboard services unlike the standard gauge vlocity trains which do have a larder but it is seldom open.
