On Saturday, July 6, volunteers Dwight Maxey, Reid Adams, Colin Mellin, Bruce Davis, Chris Pollard and Paul Brown did some clean up work on projects around the shop, and a trash run from the depot area. Chris finished repairs to the rail brake shoes on the Hi Rail truck, Bruce cleaned up a pile of debris that has been sitting next to the dumpster for months, and then applied water seal to the work cage that he constructed a few weeks back. Reid loaded up all the trash cans from the depot platform area to get them emptied out, which absolutely stuffed our itty bitty dumpster (hope the wind doesn’t blow until Tuesday!), and then cleaned out the cans since the trash in them had been sitting since Easter time.
We broke for a long lunch, and then started on some weed mowing and machine maintenance for a few hours in the afternoon. As usual, with so many different people using the equipment around the shop, things get messed up and the weekend crew always ends up with the repairs and adjustments! As the day started heating up, we started to slow down. We were also able to host a couple of small groups of visitors in the afternoon.
I am including just a couple of pictures of some of the work done today.
