Today the CFMEU looks more like a cartel than a union

Sussane Ley makes some interesting comments in X today.

This is a national scandal and yet we’ve seen zero national leadership.

Labor knew the CFMEU was crooked and took $6.2 million in donations on Anthony Albanese’s watch anyway.

Where is the Prime Minister? Where is @AlboMP?

Yes it is a national scandal and we have experienced several over the last 10 years and despite all the commissions and enquiries nothing has come of them.

Indeed where is he but I would not call it a cartel. What we are seeing in Australia and it has been going on for a very long time, is what the US Rico Act outlaws in the USA and that is simply racketeering.

The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act (RICO) of 1970 seeks to strengthen the legal tools in evidence gathering by establishing new penal prohibitions and providing enhanced sanctions and new remedies for dealing with the unlawful activities of those engaged in organised crime.

We do not have such protections in Australia indeed Australia is the only country in the OECD who does not have money laundering legislative protections. These have been requested by the OECD but have not been implemented and likely will not now we have Mathias Corman as the head the former Australian Finance Minister.

Lets not start yet on the issues of PWC another entirely separate area of State Capture.

  1. Are capture is what PWC and others were using but is this the case with CFMEU?

We’re the CFMEU using the political donations for protection of their rackeetering which I also believe was happening. Organised crime and racketeering. Albo could have known about this for some time.
