During the Cold War, the United States and the Soviet Union (along with some other countries) operated fleets of supersonic and strategic bombers. As the dynamics of war change, new bombers (such as the B-21 Raider) rely on stealth and not speed (the B-21 Raider is believed to be subsonic).
