Russia May Develop 5th & 6th Generation VTOL Fighters Based On YAK-141

The Russian website TopWar.ru reported a division of UAC and part of the state-owned Rostec company is working on developing a 5th-generation fighter. Notably, the article states the jet would be capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). TopWar.ru did not provide further details of the aircraft’s intended use, but VTOL aircraft are used as naval aircraft on small aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships.
